Michael Heatley founded Northdown Publishing in
1988 as a vehicle for his and others’ work. As well as commissioning histories
of bands and artists ranging from Ralph McTell to Lindisfarne, he has continued
to write biographies for other publishers. The most successful, on John Peel for
Michael O’Mara, has sold very nearly 100,000 copies. His
sporting titles include Fulham: The Match of my Life and the Marks & Spencer
History of Football (with Alan Green).
Michael lives in Hampshire with his wife Chris and son Joe,
is a member of two pub bands (bass guitar and vocals) and follows the fortunes
of Farnborough Town FC.
